Hey everyone! My name is Ari and I'm the owner of Third Eye Dog Bakery.

There are so many pet parents who I know will absolutely appreciate this article. Let's face it. We love to love our pups.

From cute hoodies to fun toys, we will always go the extra mile to spoil our furry friends.

As a long-time dog lover and owner, I love to connect with my clients and learn about their biggest nutritional concerns.

The more you know, the more you can make informed decisions about your dog's diet, which will have a significant positive impact on their quality of life.

First and foremost, always consult with your pet's veterinarian before making any major changes to their diet.

But back to business.

One of the most common questions I receive about our treats. . .

What is the benefit of grain free dog food for my dog's diet?

Why should my dog be grain free?

Why are your dog treats grain free?

In short, because grain free dog food is better for them

Dog food that contains grains such as wheat and corn contribute to increased insulin production, which can lead to weight gain.

Overweight dogs suffer a variety of health problems, which can severely impact their quality of life.

Feeding a dog a diet that's rich in grains can also induce inflammation, leading to symptoms such as itchy skin and achey joints.

I wanted to highlight this in particular for our dogs in their "golden" years. Our older dogs may already be experiencing the reduced mobility that comes with aging.

Achey joints will only further inhibit their movements, and discourage them from being more active.

There's so many products on the shelves, it can be daunting trying to determine which products contain grains and which contain the healthy, balanced nutrients your pups needs to feel his best.

Here's a few of the grains that you should watch out for in your pet food. . . .

Wheat

Rice

Oats

Cornmeal

Barley

This also includes by-products like corn and wheat gluten.

According to experts at The Honest Kitchen, a dog's diet should be balanced, but protein-rich. A balanced diet includes fruits and vegetables, as well as fresh meat.

Of course, every single dog has unique dietary needs and concerns.
